Mikawa Town is a town that once belonged to Ishikawa District, Ishikawa Prefecture, and is located at the mouth of the Tetori River. On February 1, 2005, it merged with the surrounding towns and villages to form Hakusan City.
Mikawa Town has formed its own port city culture through trade and exchange by Kitamae ships. In addition, there is the Hakusan Bigawa Subterranean Water Group, which has been selected as one of the 100 best waters of the Heisei era, and is characterized by a beautiful natural environment.
Taisho Romantic Street in Mikawa Town is a retro shopping street that makes you feel the atmosphere of the Taisho era. The streets are lined with long-established shops with tiled roofs and buildings with a high-collar atmosphere, and are paved with granite cobblestones.
At the Fujitsuka Shrine, 13 trolleys used in the Mikawa Welcome Back Festival are stored. These trolleys are three-wheeled hikiyama and are made using the technology of the "Mikawa Buddhist altar", which is a traditional industry of Mikawa, and are gorgeously decorated with lacquer and maki-e.
The Welcome Back Festival is held on the third Saturday and Sunday of May every year, and the shrine and trolley departing from Fujitsuka Shrine parade through the town.
On the first day, we arrive at Takahama Ryokan from Fujitsuka Shrine, stay overnight, and depart from the inn on the second night, and return to Fujitsuka Shrine while touring the town.
