This Indigenous Peoples' Day, we must take the time to acknowledge past and present-day colonialism. It's a superstructure that impacts just about every facet of our lives, and yet so many of us seem to forget that.

"Canada and the United States are settler colonial entities, and that's directly related to their imperialist policies," says journalist and author Nick Estes, citizen of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. "And it's like, I don't know why I have to keep saying that."
