When assessing pediatric trauma patients, consider the possibility of serious injury if any of the following are present:
• Significant mechanism of injury, regardless of obvious injuries.
• Injured child has an altered mental status or is behaving inappropriately.
• Injured child has evidence of poor systemic perfusion.
