Civilization 7 is on the way so maybe you want to jump back to Civ 4 but with graphics and gameplay mods. It's a hard game though, so here's how to play a new game on 'Noble' difficulty for starting out. 1. Get Bronze Working to rush buildings with population
2. Get Pottery to build granaries to get more population
3. Rush using population liberally
4. Expand until you have 5 cities
5. Get Masonry, rush Pyramids, and switch to Representation.
6. Beeline Literature and rush Great Library

This is NOT the best way to play. Beginner's aren't meant to min/max, optimise, or follow a build order perfectly but this is a loose set of steps that will help a new player 'get' how Civ 4 works.
