The North Korean People's Army, equipped with Soviet tanks, mobile artillery and aircraft, crossed the 38th Parallel on June 25, 1950, invading the Republic of Korea. President Harry Truman ordered a naval blockade of the Korean coast, and authorize, General Douglas MacArthur, Commander in Chief Far East, to send U.S. troops into Korea with the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade the first unit sent. This is a Marine Corps produced history of the USMC during the Korea War - produced in 1953 just as the war ended.
